CETP 100T (2) Introduction to Self-Employment
Students will be given an overview of what an entrepreneur is and the different types of entrepreneurs in today's communities. Students will identify the skills needed to be an entrepreneur. They will also be introduced to commonly used business terminology used in today's economy. (15:0:0 for 2 weeks)

CETP 101T (2) Entrepreneur Exploration
Students will examine and explore an entrepreneur option of interest by participating in an information interview using a preset list of questions. (15:0:0 for 2 weeks)

CETP 102T (3) Communicating as an Entrepreneur
Students will learn and apply the skills necessary to communicate effectively as an entrepreneur. The skills developed in this course will help students obtain, build and retain solid customer relationships. (15:0:0 -15 for 3 weeks)

CETP 103T (4) Researching the Competition
Students will identify a minimum of three local businesses that are similar to their self-employment business they wish to pursue. Students will research the local businesses paying attention to the following key areas: services provided, hours of operation, price of service/products, advertising and marketing tools used, and the "niche" of the business. (15:0:0 for 4 weeks)

CETP 104T (4) Targeted Marketing and Advertising
Students will be introduced to the four P's of marketing: product/price/promotion/place, and they will apply them to their business. Students will create a portfolio, a sales pitch, and a mission statement for their business. (15:0:0 for 4 weeks)

CETP 105T (5) Business Plan Essentials
Students will be introduced to what a business plan is and what it entails. With instructor, community and mentor support; students will create a simplified business plan as it pertains to their business. The scope of their plan may include the following: Executive Summary, Business Strategy, Marketing Strategy, Operational Plan, SWOT Analysis, Human Resources Plan, Social Responsibility and Financial Forecasts. (15:0:0 for 5 weeks)

CETP 106T (3) Entrepreneur Showmanship
All participants will take part in an "Entrepreneurial Day" where they will be given the opportunity to promote, market, and advertise their service/products to invited community business members and support people. (15:0:0 for 3 weeks)

CETP 107T (3) Self-Employment Community Mentorship
Students will participate in a 3-week community work experience. Students will be partnered with a business that is similar to their self-employment goal. They will have the opportunity to job-shadow a community member and experience firsthand what it is like to operate a business. (0:0:0 -45 for 3 weeks)

CETP 108T (4) Self-Employment - Connecting to the Community
With the assistance and guidance of an assigned Faculty mentor, students will have the opportunity to put their developed business plan into practice. Students will have the opportunity to experience the challenges that may present themselves and obtain the support to help manage those challenges. (0:0:0 -60 for 4 weeks)
